Elm Room
In the Elm Room, children step more fully into their role as active participants in their own learning. As our youngest preschoolers, they carry with them a growing sense of independence, curiosity, and awareness, ready to take on new challenges and deepen their understanding of themselves and others.
Here, independence becomes more intentional. Children are encouraged to engage in complex self-help skills-caring for their bodies, their belongings, and their environment with increasing confidence and pride. These daily moments are not rushed but honored as meaningful opportunities for growth.
Language begins to flourish in new ways. Teachers thoughtfully support children in expressing their ideas, needs, and emotions, helping them make connections between words, experiences, and relationships. Conversations become richer, and children begin to use language as a tool for connection, problem-solving, and collaboration.
As their social world expands, so does their emotional awareness. Children begin to identify, name, and share their feelings, learning how to navigate relationships with both support and growing independence. With guidance from teachers, they begin the lifelong work of co-regulation and self-regulation, understanding themselves while learning to be part of a community.
Our teachers remain deeply engaged, listening, observing, and responding with intention. They create space for children to think, to wonder, and to express, while offering the support needed to stretch into new skills and deeper connections.
