Cedar Room

In the Cedar Room, children step into a new chapter of confidence and capability. As older toddlers, they are eager for fresh challenges and are ready to test their ideas, refine their skills, and engage more deeply with the world around them.

Their independence continues to grow here. With increasing awareness of their bodies, their choices, and their relationships, children begin to take more ownership of their daily experiences. They move with intention, communicate with greater clarity, and show a strong desire to do things for themselves.

The environment reflects this shift. Carefully designed spaces and materials invite more complex exploration, problem-solving, and sustained engagement. Teachers respond to children’s interests and natural drive to move by offering meaningful investigations and thoughtful provocations, sparking curiosity and extending learning in authentic ways.

Social connections become richer and more layered. Children begin to collaborate, negotiate, and express themselves within a growing community, all while continuing to return to trusted teachers for guidance and reassurance.

This is also a time of increasing body awareness. As children begin to recognize and respond to their own cues, teachers gently support the development of self-care skills, including the early stages of potty learning, approached with respect, patience, and partnership.

Our teachers remain close, observing, listening, and responding with intention. They provide a balance of support and challenge that allows each child to stretch just a little further, knowing they are safe, capable, and understood.
